Unwavering rationality even in extreme emotion
I've yet to read about others like this so I just thought I would ask. My mind has been a source of a lot of pain for me but for some reason it keeps rationality in even the times where I don't want it. It seems the only thing that breaks that is getting to a point where I can literally not think at all due to emotions. All other times even soon after a rather high emotional moment my brain responds with rationality. Searching for the why behind the situations I go though and dissecting the problem trying to find any info for a rational answer. It can be frustrating at times but has helped before in identifying some rather interesting points I hadn't thought of previously. Has anyone else experienced this kind of mentality?

It's not uncommon for people to experience a struggle between their emotional and rational minds. It sounds like in your case, your rational mind tends to take over even during highly emotional moments. This can be both helpful and frustrating, as you mentioned.
It's great that you've been able to use your rational thinking to identify interesting points and dissect problems. However, it's also important to give yourself permission to feel your emotions and not always try to rationalize them away. Emotions serve an important purpose and can provide valuable information about our needs and experiences.
It's possible that your tendency to default to rational thinking could be a coping mechanism or a learned behaviour. It might be worth exploring this further with a mental health professional who can provide more insight and support ❤️
