What happened to me?
I find it so hard to do simple things like taking showers, getting dressed and brushing my teeth..
I know how hard that must be...and pressure make it worse for sure. Just try to get out ..do somthing and surround yourself with people.
@breathlessmoment9 People think I'm lazy because I find it nearly impossible to get up and do anything. I feel no desire anymore to do anything fun. Not even eat. Not hang out with friends. I have none anyway anymore and like I get it. I wouldnt want to be friends with me either if I had the choice you know?
I feel the same way.
I definitely know how you feel.. Most days I struggle to get dressed, especially for work. I don't know about you, but I always try to delay doing all of the things you posted as much as I can. I'm not unhygienic, I bathe daily and clean my teeth thrice a day but I always delay my actions.
Hey guys,
I think some days our smallest achievement are the biggest ones, I also think some days if the one thing we only do is breath, then that's actually okay 🙂, we put far to much pressure and expectations upon our self at times, and sometimes we just need to take a step back to reflect, think and take a well earned break!
i think all of your are amazing people for just being here.
Please be kind to yourself, and look after yourself x
@professionalPerspective60 I just don't care enough anymore to do any of that for myself for all I care I can rot forever
@professionalPerspective60 that was a lovely post. I love the way you wrote it, you're a really kind person - you can feel it emanating off the sscreen.
thanks for taking the time to write that ❤
@NewRomantic677
Oh thank you for being so kind ❤️
I can relate to you coz I was like that years ago. I lived alone at that time. I was feeling so empty I had to force myself to do everything, and even so it took like hours before I was able to just begin. My home was a mess, though actually I love being tidy and clean.
No one can cope with that alone. That's what I have learned. I wish I had sought more support then.
Just don't lose hope. Things will get better.
Hey there! I saw this posts title and knew I had to click on it. The question you're asking, its seems pretty basic on the surface.
"Whats wrong with me?" You ask.
I'd like to say there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. But that'd be a lie, because at the end of the day you're only human, and nobody is perfect- we all have flaws, we all get weak and break down sometimes. That's okay. We all have parts of us we can improve on. But let me just clarify that while you are imperfect, there is nothing wrong with you feeling so low. There is beauty in all of your imperfections.
You mentioned not being able to do basic activities- as mentioned before in this thread, its okay if all you do during a day is breathe. This is something many people with depression experience, so you arent alone on this one. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with you for feeling this way. You arent perfect and we all feel a little down from time to time ❤
Remember, a step forward is a step forward. No matter how tiny the step is, forward is forward :) I want you to know that while you may feel terrible cause you arent able to brush your teeth or shower or anything like that, remember that depression makes daily life an obstacle course. You arent weak for feeling this way, nor are you abnormal. You can and will recover.
-hugs-
I've entered a destructive relationship, it was very toxic and abusive, the guy I loved listened to other rumors about me, and didn't bother to talk to me. He talked with other girls in front of me and ridiculed me whenever he had the chance. He made me feel like everything was my fault, so I kept going out of my way to prove him wrong, eventually doing so led to depression. All of my energy was taken up, and nothing was ever enough, so many things were unbalanced, at the time, I had been also sheltering other people before myself, so I'm other words, I was my last priority, another self-destructive act. He took advantage of me. If I want a relationship, there must be an equal amount of love and respect, no one should ever have to win someone over.
Lovely @QueenKyKy, I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling. It's frustrating, to fight with yourself every day to complete the simplest task. You may think that's your fault, that you can't perform them, because you are lazy. But it's not your fault. There is nothing wrong with you. You have depression and this is its basic symptom.
All of the mentioned tasks is not easy, lovely - not for us. It's difficult to take care of one's hygiene, of eating habits, of putting fresh clothes instead of the unwashed for weeks tracksuit and same old T-shirt (I'm talking here from my own experience ^^;). All of it and many more of daily "normal" actions requires a lot of energy which we sometimes just don't posses. We are already fighting with our brain and it's not fair to impose additional demands when every breath is a sign of victory.
Everything you do is enough, wonderful. Breathing and perseverance throughout a given day is enough, and it doesn't matter what you'll accomplish. It'll always be enough. You may don't have any energy to take care of yourself now, but eventually you will. You will be better. For now, endure and be gentle with yourself, because you have lots to overcome and you need self-compassion more than ever.
I'm proud of you that you reach out to this community, because I know how much courage it takes. You are doing absolutely fine, lovely, living one day at the time and moving your feet forward. And you are not alone in this, we are here to support you.
Sending you all of my strength and hope!
*hugs tightly*
