What have your parents taught you?
My mon taught me that I'm not allow to fail 😀, recently I was taking a course and I failed it, I couldn't make it to the next level, I asked her if I was allow to fail and she answered yes, but with a face that said no, and since the day I told her I failed the course she has been pushing me and telling 'why did you failed?' She also told my sister that it was because I use to much my phone (which isn't true). She was thinking and was hoping for me to be this perfect girl, she always wants to change me, she wants me to wear fashion clothing (I hate it), wants me to straight my hair (I love my curls, but because of her I feel ashemed about them), she wants me to wear make up (I hate make up with all my life, I think everyone looks prettier when they don't wear make up, including myself), she wants me to study hard because if I study a good career I'll get a "great job" and I'll earn tons of money (which isn't true, because I don't like the career but I'm not allow to change it, and besides my career isn't necessary as it used to be before, so people here are earn more money by working on call centers (my nightmares job since I was a kid), so I'm thinking my life should end because I'm not in the path of succes.
@PurpleAndBlueSunStar Parents tend to do that b/c they have failed and want to live their dreams through their children. Eventually it will get to the extent where you cannot take the stress from her anymore and you will explode in any direction you choose. I chose to do drugs, party, and I messed up college. I don't want you to do that. I am 30 years old now and I am doing fine, but my past mistakes all have a beginning and reason; part of it being my mother's nagging and criticism and orders. I can relate to you. I do not want you to screw up like I did though. I suppose the best way to deal w/her is test her limits and confront her. Be yourself. Live your life. If she criticizes your choice to not wear makeup/straighten your hair, tell her to do those things to herself! You will not fail if you live your dreams. You will fuck up a little bit, here and there, but dealing w/someone constantly stressing you out and ordering you around is bound to make anyone fail! I wish I would have stopped trying to live up to my mother's expectations when I was a teenager. I probably wouldn't have rebelled so much.
