helplessness
I suffer from depression and is on medication, but some days I feel asif I have no control over my emotions. I am a mother of 3 aged 19 17 and 14 and a child in our care also 15. I somehow always feel responsible for everyones happiness, my eldest daughter is not a reble at all but very opiniated and we some times get in to disagreement. Then she shuts off from me for some time and as she suffers from depression as well I feel that I have to be able to deal with her emotions aswell. How do I get a distance from this awfull feeling of helplessness about everyones happiness. My husband and eldest are introverts and for the outside world they seem grumpy, so I am always trying to "fix" I myself is a bubbly person and need to be in contact with people, but lately I have no need to be around people, I am just here and keeping everyone happy. Sometimes it feels asif I am having anxiety with depression and I need to get a grip on my life.Any advise?
I've been there, it literally drains you. My advice is, before it gets worse, don't underestimate the consequences of such a mistreating life. No one is to blame, it's just that life is like that sometimes. Those times can be years and years. So, if you want relief you need to have a space only of your own. A moment each day, for only pleasure, intimacy with yourself, far away of guilt feelings, duties, problems, crisis, family, everything is out at that moment. Because you count too. It's ok to take care of yourself if everyone is absorbed in themselves. It's not selfish, it's necessary. You need it or you'll break down. You'll see when you are not there, that everything and everyone seems to manage, and in the end they get used to the "mum time" and no one disturbs you, nor blames you, because they start to understand you had needs too.
