Hi,

My name is Steve and I have a problem, two years ago I was diagnosed with depression so I was put on depression tablets and six months up the line I was fit for work again. Problem was its the job that bought on the depression in the first place, very unsociable hours meant I only saw my wife for about an hour a day and some of my family at weekends .my place of work promised me a job with mor social hours but that didn't happen, it took me ten months to find another job (I'm 62) the job I have is brilliant and I love it but it's only four days a week and the pay is bad, now my wife earned far mor than me and that puts her as the main contributer, however she was very ill and it made her realise that we couldn't survive on what I earn so i have been getting a lot of pressure to find extra work or a different job , now my wife will soon be able to work again but i do need to make more money but as important as the situation is i keep putting off looking for more work , I feel bad about it but can't get into gear and do anything, my step daughter just gives me a lot of verbal abuse and I am beginning to wonder if it's the depression..........or am I becoming a lazy git ? Trouble is I feel like a lazy git and just feel sorry for myself .......not a good start is it? Regards Steve

@persistentWheel4271 sounds like you have a lot of pressure in your life right now. Be kind to yourself. You know what depression is like so it is only natural you don't want to put yourself under pressure again. It shows strength and awareness to know what is not good for you. Keep working through the resources here and reach out for support here, in the chat rooms or with a 1 -1 chat. Take care 😄

@persistentWheel4271 Depression can definitely lead to telling yourself that you're just being lazy. Because it both makes things difficult and makes you feel inclined to judge yourself harshly.
