lost job, death in family - how do i cope?
Hi guys. I'm new here, so this is kind of scary, but here it goes. Long story short, about a year into moving to a new state, I was laid off from my job (this happened a couple of months ago), and now a family member has passed away. I've been dealing with depression and anxiety for years, but I think this has by far been the most difficult and painful time for me. I was already feeling blue about not wanting to know what to do with my life and career and feeling like a failure. Now, I just feel completely stuck and hopeless. I'm currently taking meds, and am trying hard to get on with my life, but there are days where I can barely get out of bed. Each day has been a struggle, and I'm literally just taking everything one step at a time. I feel so un-human - just going through my daily motions, having to remind/force myself to eat and stay hydrated. I'm not a social person, so I don't have a bunch of friends or even family to turn to for help. My boyfriend whom I live with has been very supportive, but I know that dealing with me in this state hasn't been easy for him either. I'm just hoping for some advice, suggestions, comments, anything for that matter. Thanks for listening.

Putting one foot in front of the other sounds like the way to proceed at the moment - expecting too much of yourself is likely to end in disappointment. So be kind to yourself, these things happen, and these things pass.
