my depression is getting worse and worse
I'm not sure what's going on but my depression is getting to become really bad, I'm starting to cry over a lot of things and I'm also starting to have outbursts where I go off on people not in a bad way I just get very emotional. Sometimes I think its because of my job and how unhappy I am And I feel like its tearing my soul apart. I just need help its not fun I sometimes cry in public over random things I guess because I'm going through so much I always put it behind Me and bottle it up. I broke down yesterday and cried in front of my brother and he said I am acting like a child that kind of hurted me everyone thinks depression is a joke and that your crying on purpose and that your weak it sucks so much for me because I'm so scared of people it affects everything my work efforts and my relationship I feel so alone =(
Often times when our minds are simply pushed to their limits, this is the result. What's happening is the negative feelings and emotions we keep bottled inside aren't actually lying dormant, they're slowly breaking away at our foundation; our core.
And we need our foundation to be at its best in order to perform at our best. Think of it as your outer castle wall. The outer castle wall needs to be firmly intact and impenetrable in order to protect the citizens inside the actual castle. When people are attacking those outer walls or the walls simply aren't as strong as they once were, the danger of those walls falling is suddenly that much higher.
When our foundation is weak, our mental strength can falter. The constant unhappiness and the increased amount of crying is your body's way of telling you its walls have been weakened and changes need to be made in order to go back to what it once was.
I think that if your work environment is a state of unhappiness and source of stress for you, that you're correct in believing some of this is resulting from that. Can whateveris going on at work be resolved in some way?
Can you speak to someone at work about your unhappiness or are there mental exercises you can do to possibly change your mindset when you're at work so you're less anxious going in? If not, maybe it would be a good idea to begin looking for a job with a better work environment.
Improving your current work environment or simply finding another may help some with the unhappiness you're currently feeling. It would definitely give you less to worry about.
As far as people like your brother, I understand that it's easier said than done to ignore them, but sometimes that's what you have to do. Either people will understand (or try to) or they won't. And if they refuse to, that's their right, just like it's your right to keep them at arms length. You need to be around people who will uplift you, not tear you down. And belittling what you're feeling isn't exactly uplifting.Be picky about who you get close to. It's important that you protect yourself during this time.
And finally, speak to a counselor. A professional. They will provide you with the tools you need to dig yourself out of this rut. Depression is a scary thing, and it's even scarier when you're attempting to navigate the maze alone. Having someone to coach you on ways to deal with stress and help you change the way you approach stressful situations will benefit you in the long run. Not to mention if you have a relapse, it's nice to have someone that will help you pick yourself back up. I've gone to many counselors in my many years of life, and I can say that some of them have truly saved me from myself. They're a valuable asset to have and will help you protect yourself.
You're not alone, but depression will make you feel that way. I promise you that things aren't as bleak as they feel. Speak to a professional counselor. They'll help you lift the blinders that depression has placed on you, and suddenly hope won't be such a farfetched thing. Good luck.
Very well put.
Thank you, Edmond. :)
