Hello,

basically depression has taken over my life again, it's very difficult for me to do daily tasks, find motivation for school work and if I do, I can't concentrate or memorise anything. My brain is just foggy all the time. Social interactions exhaust me. I started isolating from my boyfriend which ended our relationship and seeing him so devastated makes it all even worse...

I can’t afford online therapy or a private therapist, been on waiting lists for therapy and psychiatric help for months so I’m very desperate.

Any chance anyone could help me navigate through this, how can I try to get better without professional help? Literally anything will help at this point. Thank you.

@zusf

hello. I'm so sorry your going through this. I've been through that too. I'm sorry to say, I don't have a magic formula that's guaranteed to work. There might be one out there, but I don't have it. I'm not a listener, or a psychiatrist, or a therapist, but I know your pain.

I'll tell you what I do. Whenever It gets really bad I find a quiet place, usually the bathroom as that's the only place where I can be alone, and I breath. It sounds cliche but it helps. I focus one one breath after the other. After that I look at how babies learn to walk. Babies take one shaky step at a time. They fall down a lot, but they get back up. Fast foreword to about 6 years/old and they are running.

This may or may not work for you but it helped me. It took me years before I found something that helped. If this doesn't work, think about this. Someday you will see someone getting angry at a certain turn of events and you will keep walking. You will have learnt to deal with way worse and you will be strong because of it. You won't feel strong now, but people who are strong never feel strong until they need to be strong, and then they feel weak.

@zusf I hear you. I'm sorry you are feeling so down right now. It's hard when you feel so foggy headed to see a way out, or even imagine it's possible for things to get better. I just wanted to reassure you , you are not alone and that there is hope. Have you tried the depression self help guide?
