I am very sensitive to rejection, recently been feeling like whenever I try and make a new friend by myself it just goes wrong. It’s really hard to not feel unlikeable

does anyone have any tips to not take this personally? My friend put it this way “everyone has a right not to like you, you can’t force it”

Your friend :) is being honest with you, you have a right to dislike someone based on any number of preferences you have and the same is true of that other person towards you. I understand what you might feel when you make an effort to reach out and that person doesn't really return your interest in being friends. It can hurt, but keep trying. Just like you have your current friend, you'll find others who you will be able to get along with. ☺️ If you'd like to connect with me, ahaha I'm here! Cheer up, okay?

I can definitely understand and relate to this feeling, as it is hard to feel like others do not want us. However, I feel like you can try to flip your mindset around as well. While keeping in mind what your friend said about us having a right not to like people, also try to tell yourself that your time is valuable and you are a fun person. If people do not want to be friends with you, it is not worth your time and energy to dwell and worry about those feelings. You deserve someone who does respect your time and effort, and appreciates YOU.
