Drifting apart

I recently started growing apart with my best friend of 5 years. Is it normal for best friends to grow apart? We only have one class together so we don't talk as much anymore. I just miss her and want to talk to her but she doesn't want to. She told me that she wants to pretend to be friends. And that our friendship is over.

Hiya, @redCircle8282, I can relate to that on some level. I know it can be painful for long-term friendships to end or grow distant, sometimes it's just because you two are different people now. I used to overthink my previous friendships a lot, but I realised that both of us had changed, and we weren't suited for each other anymore. If you want, you could talk to them more about the situation, and why they don't want to be friends. I think, though, that regardless of whether I wanted to remain friends with someone, respecting their wishes was the best I could do for them. I'd definitely have a conversation about why they want to pretend to be your friend though, it seems unhealthy, and if they don't wanna be your friend, they shouldn't fake it. Hope this helps <3
