Feeling Lonely & Depressed....No Support
Hi Everyone......Ever feel like your in this all alone, even if others "know," they wont really ever KNOW until they have gone through it.
I live in Zambia (from USA), I live here without any other foriegners around. Meaning, no one understands me here and I have no one to talk to about what all is going on. On top of all that, I live in a depressing setting, dealing with vulnerable children daily. There smiles are beautiful but when you think about where they come from and what they have (nothing) its heart breaking.
I miss my family terribly. I miss my girlfriends to talk everything through and have girls night! I miss my home church and the wonderful community there. Wow....I miss home. Here, its soo lonely, I dont have any girl friends and only a few people at the local church. Most of the people dont speak english and I dont know the local language well. Im not always busy, just about 3 days a week. The other days, I sleep and read western romances. Yesterday, I went to be at 2pm and woke up at 7am the next day.
How do I get out of this slump? I need support. I need a community. I need someone in my life who cares that isnt on the other side of the world.

Hi! Seems like you are doing a good job working with vulnerable children. I am sure they look up to you and appreciate you for the same.
Please don't feel like no one cares. We are here. You can always come here and talk to a listener about anything you wish :) We are always here to support you.
I understand that you need some one from your homeland to be able to talk face to face with and I know it must be very hard to live in a completely different community and surroundings. I just want you to know that I feel you are very brave to be able to do this every day :)
Maybe you could try to avoid the negative thoughts about what has gone wrong and try to find the positivity in why you are there and why that is important. Maybe you could try connecting with some of the local people of your age via church or where you work and ask them to teach you the local language in your free time. This will keep you distracted from negative thoughts as well as make you settle better :) Who knows, maybe you start liking it there?
I know its easy for me to say all this... but we can try to make it better. Right? What do you think?
Hope you are having a good day! :) Keep Being Strong!
