How to enjoy time off when feeling lonely

Hey all,

I am taking time off before school to have a break from work and relax. I know I need the time to try to work on getting things ready for school and catching up on sleep. However, I struggle with feeling down and lonely when I have too many days off. I have been making as many plans with friends as I can and I planned a short beach get-away but don't want to spend too much. I feel like I would like to ask a friend to check up on me/call me during this time but find it scary to do that and feel afraid of asking for too much. Also I felt really down today because the guy I've been seeing has a lot of plans with family, so it'll be about three weeks between when I saw him last. I also have toxic/abusive parents that I don't like to contact, which has been causing me to struggle with the weight of no family support. I have a brother I'm close to, but he can be distant/keep to himself and hasn't responded to any of my recent messages.

Thanks,
Day

I know how you are feeling, @Daydreamer47 - I, too, had a 3-week break between jobs. At first I thought it would be awesome, but I found it difficult, for some of the reasons you list. I did decide to clean out closets and drawers, lol, tasks I had put off for far too long. Though it did not seem "fun" I did feel like I accomplished something, which made me feel a little better. I also took some long walks. I hope you find/found some sort of relief as the time went on and it is over or is almost over!
