I am 22years old and i never had a real friend my entire life. I just can't seem to connect with people. I think it it my fault, because i want to get accepted and liked but when i am with people i start judging them in my head and find reasons why i can't be friends with them. I was never a popular kid, so interactions with people usualy make me very anxious and i can't seem to relax around others. When i am all by myself i feel relieved and confortable but also i would like to have someone to talk to. I don't know what to do..

That sounds like me..... But if you want friends but still very shy... I gottatell you dude... You need to take the first step... Lets think of it like this: you are standing there right next to a another person who really want to be friends with you but is to shy to talk to you.. Then YOU need to take the first step by introducing yourself and then ask about them... You need to stop pushing yourself around and be Brave.. And if you do that only once..... You are not afraid anymore.. You can Walk around talking to people and make a tons of friends! But you need to take the first step and that step is the hard one but trust me its Worth it! Beacuse once you have that friend they Will not judge you but Will help you and Will always try to make you smile and Will always try to support you!!! So trust me its Worth it!!!

It sounds like you care constantly about how you're perceived by others, which is a great quality. It shows that you want people to see the best side of you, and that's not at all a bad thing. Maybe you can try changing the way you are seeing others. Instead of trying to rationalize why you can't be friends with someone, try and find reasons why you would wantto be friends with someone. If those reasons are good enough, then ask yourself if you'd want to learn more about them and if you could eventually trust them. If you are genuinely interested in getting to know a person, they will see your authenticity and will already accept and like you. Remember, you'renot alone; we all want human contact and we're not all great at initiating it. Feel free to message me if you want to talk some more!
