I can’t find a purpose

I don’t understand how other people do it. I am not interested in meeting anyone but I also feel incredibly lonely. My family lives in another continent and I have no one here. I find myself overwhelmed for the pettiest reason like I got an upsetting news and I have no one to even talk about it. In a matter of seconds I’m bawling out my eyes because I no longer care about the news itself but instead spiraling out on my loneliness. Everything is depressing and everyday I am trying very hard to find something to do just to distract myself

Hi HelpfulCherry6283, I am sorry you received but news. Having family else where in the world is difficult too. My situation isn’t quite like yours but if I can share a few things you might try, I spent sometime in out patient therapy. I practice and still practice doing opposite action. It’s when you don’t feel like doing something, you do it anyway. But pick safe environments. Then, when I needed distraction I got a Nintendo switch and started playing animal crossing. I found a Facebook group called Animal Crossing the giving tree! Amazing group! You connect with people there and play the game together! No real in person socializing! I have made online friends in other countries. Fun! When I moved away from my kids to take care of my dad, I left my friends and my best friend in Colorado. I still feel very alone. But I go to church which is personal but can also be supportive, and social. Lookup https://www.thechuchofjesuschrist.org if interested. They are world wide. You can schedule zoom meeting in most places to talk with missionaries. They are great and very cheerful people to bring into your life. Then, I am not sure if www.meetup.com is global. But you put in your hobbies and you find groups that meet up in person and virtually. That’s how I met my best friend of 9 years in Colorado. We met at a scrapping group. I have down knitting groups that met at bars/pubs too. I hope just one of these ideas offers you comfort. Just remember your are not alone in your loneliness. I appreciate you sharing.
