I'm not important
Months after I get diagnosed with depression I told my friend about it. She listened to me and I apreciated that, however, each time I tell her that I'm feeling down she doesn't answer or doesn't know what to say, she never asks me anything, if I'm well or not.
I love her, but I feel so alone and that doesn't help, I know she is uncomfortable when I talk about my sadness and that's ok, but I feel like I'm not important, people know that I'm depressed and they don't care, life goes on for them while I'm in a dark hole and they know it.
I hate that nobody cares about me, I don't want to be selfish but I have been suffering from this FOR YEARS and it looks like I have to do smt tragic to feel important.
Now I understand that I shouldnt have been born at all and that's breaks my heart, I'm alone in this.
(Sorry for my bad English, it's not my first language and I'm not that well to check it)
@anonyHuman6633 Sometimes we have what I call fair weather friends. They're the friends that are there when things are good and things are ok. But they sort of go quiet or step back when things get bad. Idk if it means that they don't care. It could just be that they don't know what to do or how to help. Some people have a lot of misconceptions about depression. Have you tried to talk with her about why she goes quiet or doesn't answer? You said that you know she's uncomfortable when you talk about your sadness and doesn't answer or doesn't know what to say - you might need to find a different person or outlet to talk about it with. Because unfortunately some people will stop being friends if someone keeps trying to talk about something they're uncomfortable with. Sometimes the people we have in our lives can be on different levels. One person might be good to just hang out with but someone else might be better with deeper conversations. It doesn't mean they don't care or that we're unimportant to them. They just aren't the person for the situation. I know it doesn't help with feeling alone though. I hope this makes a little sense 😅
@anonyHuman6633 i suffer from depression too and i'm with you. We both know how important love and support when it comes to curse like depression. I give you my love and support. Remember you are not alone. I feel your pain literally. Real friends always will support you and you will feel love from them. It seems like your friends aren't real friends. And you have to admit it, cause there no point to support this friendship. Try to find new people, communicate online or offline (better offline). Take a walk, take a bath. Watch your favorite series. Remember that everything change. Talk with listener or with me, cause we all in the same boat and have to help each other overcome this. Practice breath technic. And remember - I CARE ABOUT YOU. I really do. Much love to you 😊
I am so sorry that your friend has had to such trouble understanding you. It can be hard to find the right person to confide in.
Do you have other people that you can turn to? Sometimes if you expand your network a little it can help.
You can also share how you are feeling here as often as you want. We have all experienced some of your symptoms and so we don't judge you.
If you want, you can add onto this thread and I will answer it once a day. @anonyHuman6633
