Particles of nothingness

Instead of an afterlife, can’t we just turn into particles of absolutely nothing. Just cease to exist. No good place or bad. Just nothing, an empty space where no one is going to miss you or mourn for your. What does 1 billion humans minus 1 equals to? Still a billion.
