Questioning myself

I have people who say they are my friends but never want to hang out. If they need anything I’m there but vice versa? Forget it. My s/o and therapy can only help so much. I’ve started to wonder if maybe it’s me. I make plans or try to and no one ever wants to go or something always comes up. I’m just tired of it all.

they’re definitely not appreciative of you. i would consider ignoring their texts and just keep on friendly terms like acquaintances not so much as friends because they’re not giving you the same energy back. are there maybe some old friends who you would be happy to start a bond with again?

As far as distancing goes I’ve definitely haven’t been speaking to them the same. As far as old friends go everyone is distant or we aren’t into the same things. Some smoke and drink and I don’t do those things you know? Others haven’t responded when I’ve reached out

@agreeableHemlock895 it must be so tiring to be there for some people when they need it, but whenever you need something, suddenly nobody's there. It seems like this situation lasted for a long time.
But even if right now, it seems like there is no solution, you should keep trying new things. Are there any friends with whom you enjoy spending time with ?

I get where you're coming from as I've been having the same problems myself. Sadly, I don't have an answer, per se, but I hope we find one. I've just been trying to get comfortable taking my "on dates" or adventures when I'm feeling left out. Seeing a movie I like or walking somewhere new I wouldn't normally go with others. Fingers crossed we find a better long term solution. 💚

@Hemlock11

It's impossible to give any meaningful advice to deal with your situation without a lot more information. However, experience has taught me that opening a line on conversation and expressing how you feel to your friends (in a non-accusatory way) can bring some great insights that maybe you currently aren't considering. It's possible that there have been misunderstandings, and maybe they don't really understand how they're neglecting you. I think it's important to gather as much information as possible before deciding whether these people are your friends or not.
