social justice and loneliness
I saw someone post something today about how people should be pushing themselves to educate family members around certain issues (racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.). I started to feel anxious and depressed about that, because I feel like I really need my family for emotional support, and the strained relationships with family/friends have really taken a toll on me. I think I really need to feel in control in my life and let go of guilt around setting boundaries around participation in certain activism people/spaces.
@Daydreamer47 You can start wherever you are comfortable at. Don't push yourself to be an advocate for broad social justice causes (racism, sexism, etc.) if you are feeling too anxious and are worried about the existing family strains you have. Perhaps, advocating for something that you believe can be a small step? Having family support is great though and I wish you the best of luck! I believe in you.
I know that feeling well. Most all my family and friends were toxic to my health so I'm starting over. This time hopefully make better choices but it's very lonely. And I blame myself for everything and its hard.
@Daoldone56 :( What do you mean by starting over? Trying to make new friends?
Yes just try to keep it real and maybe someday feel loved back the way I've given it!!
