Am I classified as someone suffering from depression and anxiety?

New here too. I think I have a lot of symptoms of depression and anxiety but Ive not been able to pin point where it stems from. I lost my dad 5 months ago and was unable to be at his side or at his funeral because of covid flight bans. After his death I wondered why I wasn’t grieving the way my family was. I was sad at times but still suprised how I walked around most of my day as if it didn’t happen. 2 months after his death I started to fall into what I think is depression. I just lost motivation for all the activities I usually love, all I do is lay in bed sleeping every chance I get. I feel just sad and low constantly and I isolate myself from people as much as I can.

6 days ago I caught my boyfriend of 4 years cheating on me and discovered she was a prostitute. This added to everything. I never felt he knew how to show empathy and he’s always so childish about everything. He lies to me and has this way of subtle manipulation when we argue. He gaslights me and can be really cruel when I’m hurting about something he has done. It’s almost like he does things intentionally to hurt me and I’m left feeling like I’m in awe of how someone can just ignore another persons feelings and hurt them so bad and act so unbothered by it. I then discovered this form of abuse called Narcissistic Abuse which I never knew existed and it only dawned on me 2 days ago that I may have been with one for the last 4 years of my life. I broke up with him after this particular prostitute incident but still feel such love for him regardless even though I know he’s bad for me. Feeling so worthless and like I never meant anything to him. What makes me feel even more insecure is that the prostitute is actually beautiful (Dubai ones are actually stunning) and everything physically he told me he doesn’t like in a woman. I walk around all day everyday with a heavy ache in my heart and great sadness.

I'm. Sorry for your loss.

Please consult a therapist to support you. Grief is not the same for all. It takes many forms...

Take care

Hello,

first of all I’m so sorry you had to deal with this. If you truly believe you have depression, consult with a specialist like I did.

I recently got broken up with out of the blue and I still don’t know why. I’ve been safe for moths now, lost a lot of weight bc I wasn’t eating, felt completely empty yet I had to continue with my everyday life when all I felt was sadness.

I got worried about what this might be and consulted with someone and as it turned out, I was and am depressed. I’m not gonna lie, accepting it makes the healing process harder. But I learned to live day by day, just think about today and tomorrow I’ll think about tomorrow.

like you, I’m still in love and I love him so so much, and I miss everything we lived together and it makes it so much harder. I’m telling you my situation so you know you are not alone in this. There are so many people that relate and understand you.
