Anyone found anything that has lessened their deppresion symptoms? Supplements, exercise, SSRI......?
Just wondering if anyone has experienced improvements from depression weather it's from SSRI's or St. Johns Wort, Sam-e, meditation, nature walks etc. I realize that we are all different and respond to medication and supplements differently but it would be interesting to know what has worked for some individuals. Best of luck you all and keep fighting the good fight!

The only thing that really makes me happy(that isnt a profession) is exercise. You could try that.
I read self-help books and forced myself to think positively. Now my depression seems to have gone away.
Positive thinking and outlook does help a lot. I suggest this one here as a side thing to try to do all the time.
Exercise, yoga, meditation. Once you get over the initial hump of exercising, it becomes addictive...in a good way. It helps me. Never thought I'd benefit from the meditation but there's something about that soothing voice telling me to relax my body. It works.
Meditation is a good one and mindfullness meditation, in particular, has been shown in studies to have significant efficacy for depression. I just find it hard to do it consistantly enough to see the benefits.
I agree. I don't know which one I do... I'll have to research online. Believe it or not, I found someone I like on YouTube. I love his voice and he helps me relax. I try to do it every night before bed.
In addition to exercise and positive thinking, I have a special drink. Just a special something I don't get often. In my case, tea. Chamomile tea helps calm down and relax. I recommend a chamomile mint mix. If you're needing a bit more energy, a green tea mint mix helps.
Has anyone tried "natural" supplements and therapies that have studies backing their efficacy? Examples include: Sam-e, saffron, curcumin, rhodiola, fish oil (EPA), blue light therapy, folate/b12/b6, probiotics. I think these along with exercise, nature walks and mindfulness meditatoin have the most scientific backing.
