Depressed and outgoing?
I'm a really outgoing person. I love to talk to people, even random strangers and I thrive on socializing. Does that mean that I can't be depressed or have depression?
Depression and being outgoing might seem contradictory, but just like shyness and anxiety you can have them both. It's more helpful to be outgoing and depressed because you can get help a bit easier then someone more afraid to ask for help.
Depression affects people in its own way, so you can be depressed even if you're outgoing. Everyone is different when it comes to it.
Hello love @labachatera![]()
I would say that I am very similar to you, albeit not as quickly able to accept my imperfections, but you really have given me a new perspective. The only major difference is that I get mildly depressed every now and then as when I have time away from school I don't really tend to spend time with my friends or socialisewith them, out of a lack of courage to contact them, I did when I was a bit younger, but the circle of friends inevitably grows in high school and I guess I drifted away from a lot of them.
It is important for people to understand that people who are highly extraverted and highly agreeable can become depressed and that the signs of depression for these people are more likely to be missed or detected by friends and family - See more at: https://clinicallypsyched.com/depression-missed-links-personality-type-reporting-mental-health-news/#sthash.2pm8ToOI.dpuf
If you feel depressed or down, anxious, or that you are worth nothing, it is OKAY TO TALK! The only way that you can start to feel better is if you seek help. You wouldn?t try to get rid of physical illnesses such as cancer or diabetes without help, so why should mental illness be any different? Even if you are like me and take little from the help you receive, it?s better than not getting anything. And hopefully, the little that I learned has helped me to become better at dealing with depression. If you don?t feel comfortable discussing it with your family or friends, you can find others who will. You are not alone!
7 Cups! you can come here any time anyone would be happy to talk to you and get you through this time NO MATTER WHAT. We care because no one should feel as if no one cares. Everyone deserves to be heard. Everyone has a voice.
I care about you, and I'm here to talk if you need me. *bear hug*![]()
Well said @kash216!
Your feelings are always valid. If you're sad and feel hopeless, nobody can tell you you're not. You can absolutely be depressed and be outgoing. Everyone has an inner world.
I personally think just becauseyour outgoing does not mean you cant have depression. I ama really friendly person myself,no one would even think thatIhave depression unless I told them.
Hey there! The general consensus people have about depression is always sad and introverted but sometimes that may not be the case. There are some people who excessively socialize to mask their feelings and to not show other people they are depressed so just because you seem outgoing you seem like you're surrounded but so many friends there's always a chance you are depressed. I hope this helped
