Depression at work?

I've been struggling at work for a while now, and experience long periods of brain fog, an inability to concentrate, and slow-responses to information and/ or people in conversations and in meetings. I've just been assigned a big project and am finding that I am unable to function at a normal level, and it is affecting my work. Furthermore, depression has negatively impacted my social skills, and I find it much more challenging to articulate what I would like to express. I'm trying hard not to fall into cognitive traps, especially amidst other things that are happening in my personal life, but it still takes a toll on my self-esteem, and every day I have to go to work feels like a form of torture (I hope I'm not dramatic, I'm not trying to be. Just don't know how else to explain the pain/dread). When I am there, I'm not quite sure how to spend the 8+ hours productively, especially when my brain stays foggy for most of it.

Does anyone have a similar experience, and how do you cope?

I have this issue. I work at a middle school in a room for kids with emotional disabilities. I love my job. But as soon as I'm sitting in silence during work time or walking alone to the bathroom or something, my mind constantly goes to the negative thoughts. I struggle mostly with feeling like I have no friends here. Any job I've ever had, I always made friends rather quickly. This is my second year here and I constantly feel so alone and sad. It's not bad some days. I feel like when I do get bad, I feel like I can't concentrate and I'm overly tired. I find myself having a hard time sleeping, despite the Hemp gummies I take at night. I guess it also doesn't help that I'm stuck in one room all day and don't really have time to socialize. There are 2 other teachers in my room, and we get along, but I don't feel like I can joke or say whatever is on my mind to them unless they speak first. While I like my job, the kids don't know how to control their emotions or outbursts sometimes. So, their attitude sometimes really drains my energy.

I know what you mean. I actually went home early from work today because it was too much. My boss automatically blamed me for something instead of asking me about it so I could explain (and getting blamed for something I didn't do is a MAJOR trigger for me). I felt unsupported in many ways today. I was jittery, near tears, and couldn't concentrate. I figured I'd be doing more damage if I stayed there in that condition. I'll go back tomorrow because I don't have another job lined up. Also because not every day is that bad, just a lot of them.

My depression affects me differently at work than it does anywhere else. I find myself getting agent a lot of the time. Mumbling to myself fuck this I hate you or fuck just leave me alone Im a pretty nice person but I think it just gets to be to much and I instinctively just snap.
