Dissociation
Does anyone else struggle with dissociation with their depression? I always feel like I’m zoned out or on autopilot half the time; or that I’m not really myself or in full control of my body. Lately it’s been happing to me a lot and I can’t seem to find anything that can snap me out of it, sometimes it’s even for prolonged periods of time. And I’m not sure if it’s more related to depression or possibly even anxiety, bc I have both, but I was just curious if anyone else ever has issues with this.
Me too
Hi sleepenby! I've struggled with depression most of my life and I know what you're talking about though for me it's normally something I do personally when things are intolerably bad in my life and I'm trying to seek out some solace. Have you noticed any type of pattern of when it happens?
hi hi first thank you so much for replying to my post I really appreciate it! For me it’s usually I start to zone out excessively and I can’t usually pull myself out of it. If I’m with someone, I’ll have trouble listening/focusing on what they’re saying/doing, and I feel like I’m not really in my own body to the point where if I am able to reply, I’m talking really slowly and my train of thought disappears almost immediately, or I feel like I can’t speak at all. Overall I feel pretty numb to everything going on around me and basically just sit there until I can snap out of it if it’s a really bad episode, it’s weird.
