Do you have trouble being late due to depression or anxiety?

Hi,

I've been really struggling with being on time to work and school due to mental health and I was wondering if I'm the only one or others experience this?

Usually it is because I have trouble sleeping due to feeling lonely and/or stressed, and I have found unfortunately that some people, especially bosses, have yelled at me and assumed I was just irresponsible or unreliable, which hurts me so much.

Today I would have been there at 9:03, but I went to the wrong classroom and was really upset all day. :( :(

Thanks,

Day

I understand. I have encountered this too. I feel pressured to be perfect and so I often find myself running late needing to make sure everything is just right. You are definitely not alone in this. I'm sure most everyone has encountered this at some point in their lives. I'm sorry that your boss isnt very understanding.

@sunnyWatermelon1986 Thanks for your comment. <3 It was an old boss I'm not working for anymore. I'm in school full time instead now. My professors are aware of my mental health issues. Some students have been kind to me and asked if I was okay.

@Daydreamer47 That's really great to hear! It's definitely more helpful when people are understanding and compassionate.

Lately every little thing(like getting out of bed and showering) take so much effort to start, just sitting or laying almost motionless, telling myself I should do X of Y. After a couple of hours I finally start and get a couple things done, but I'm mentally so tired afterwards 😵

Anxiety. Procrastination because I'm scared, and I don't want to leave my unhealthy copying to stand up and do things, because then I would feel the fear. But I also deem this as irresponsible, when I am involved, because I always think that probably I didn't put enough effort in fighting my anxiety, then I think that probably everyone that is late has my same reasons, everyone has anxiety about doing things and leaving the house, so if being late is a bad thing for everyone, and most people manage not to, why would I be justified? I should just have put a little more effort, be more responsible, grow up, be stronger. But oddly, if someone else says "I was late because of too much anxiety", I believe them, and I also feel for them 🤷‍♀️
