Ever been to residential treatment?
Has anyone here ever been to a treatment facility (I call it residential treatment) that is a sort of extended-stay psych unit at a hospital? I'm trying to learn a bit more about them and look into them possibly for myself. Feel free to message me or reply!
Thanks! :)

I attended one. It wasn't a hospital type setting though. Personally, it wasn't for me...at least at that time. However, had I known more about it and had more say in what was happening, it would have been better. And I did learn quite a bit while I was there. If you ever want to message me (or just reply here) I'll answer any questions I can!

I was curious about like "how bad" people have to be to get treatment of this level. I don't know if you had any opinions on the types of people that were there with you or like what you think determines if a person needs this type of care.
Of course since I'm assuming you're not a professional this is all opinions, but I just don't know if I really need this type of treatment for myself.
Thanks so much!

We had all sorts of different problems. The main reasons you would get sent there were: traditional therapy wasn't working or a court required you to go as an alternate to Juvi.

Hello! I just wanted to shine a little light on the range of severity of mental illness you may see at the hospital. Some people are absolutely there because they have to be, they have very severe symptoms and wouldn't do well out of that environment. Then on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, some people may just be really down or blue and in need of a "break from reality" but not really suffering with any severe symptoms. All kinds of people are treated for mental health issues, the hospital is there to make people feel better, and if being in a safe supporting environment would help you then I think its worth looking into. Hope I gave you a good idea of what to expect, and if you want to ask anything else feel free, I have a lot of opinions and experiences in the area.
Best wishes and much love <3

@merexdith First, I would say that you should seek treatment from a doctor or other mental health professional unless this is an crisis situation. If you already are this is a great question for them to answer too. Personally, I feel that if you believe that being in a residential treatment would be beneficial for you I would go for it. If you check yourself in you can usually check yourself out if its not for you. Good luck and I hope you start feeling better soon. :)
