My college is offering a DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) group and I was wondering if anyone has had success with this type of therapy, especially for emotional regulation and distress tolerance.

I like it a lot, but it takes a lot of work to change the knee jerk reactions, hypersensitivity and emotional outbursts of a lifetime ( I am borderline )

@misha7 I attended a weekly DBT skills training group for a few months about 15 years ago. I found it very helpful because it changed the way I view depression and anxiety. I think all the mindfulness and practical strategies help me to access a more objective perspective when I'm feeling overwhelmed by my emotional response to a situation. It got me thinking about how to be compassionate to myself, and gave me a sense of empowerment.

I still having a rough time implementing those skills on regular basis. As I get healthier, I find myself going back to those skills more and more though. That experience was definitely worthwhile for me.
