Hey im new and I think I'm suffering depression
Im 35/m and I have been suffering depression for awhile now, maybe since I was a kid. I always accounted as shyness or me being a introvert. The truth is its anxiety which I think adds to my depression and vice versa. I never want to socialize and it kills my relationships with ppl and I get down on myself to the point that I dont want to leave the house. Family and my gf are out having a life and I usually blow up on them because of that, I wish they push me to be more social but I also know I need to be more independent and enjoy MY life. The depression comes in because I feel incomplete
The fact that you have a girlfriend makes me think that you are already on the right path. Unsociable people usually have no idea how to strike a conversation with a girl let alone be lucky enough to have a girlfriend. You really should treasure her and your family. Instead of pushing you to be more social, I think it might be better to have them help you overcome your shyness and inferiority. Once you're feeling better, you will be more ready to go social on your own.
I didn't how to strike a convoy with her, she actually took the wheel and did. I m more open when people speak to me but I'm not a engager of conversation. A lot of times I believe I don't go out its because I have concerns that no one will talk to me and my nerves won't let me do it.
Expecting them to push you to be more social is a little unfair. They may not want to push you out of that comfort zone. Often time with mental illness loved ones dont know how or what will help. Some people need the nudge from others while other being nudged with shut them down further. Try taking that first baby step on your own and get more involved and let your lady know how you feel. If she knows you want to be more social and engaging she will likely be your best pusher of you need it. Having a supportive relationship while dealing with mental illness can make a huge difference. Just keep communicating with her and allow her to help you.
