How do I bring this up?
Hi everyone! Im trying to set up an appointment with a therapist for the first time. I wanted to know how I can bring something up to her when we first meet. I dont know if they can report me or anything if they worry about me. I dont actively want to harm or k1ll myself, but I have no desire to be alive. I dont feel any happiness or excitement to be alive and that thought alone scares me. I just dont want to be reported or anything just for expressing that. Thanks in advance!
@lamenickname You may want to straight up ask when you make the appointment. That may be the best way of going about finding out. We can't really answer because it's doubtful any of us know the office you're going to call (not to mention privacy and all that). I suspect that there are certain guidelines but each person may vary.

Hi!
It's a little tricky to answer your question because the laws vary country by country.
In general though, therapists are required to report clients and break confidentality when there is a serious risk that the client may harm themselves or someone else.
Having said that though, there's a big difference between "I have no desire to be alive" vs "I want to kill myself and I have a plan to do it". In one, there's just thoughts, but in the other, there's intentions, plans and a huge risk of the client's safety.
I hope this answers your question! Most therapists in the first session will outline their own policies and rules of confidentality, so they'll clarify where their own line is.

@lamenickname distortions of the soul, part of you are sick, you know it, part of you wanted to be help but then you are afraid to be expose, you are fear of many things maybe ashame and wanted to be seen as normal but you know well, you are not and you needed help...
