I have been feeling deeply sad and depressed for the last few months so I tryed my usual coping method which is music but now it just numbs me and I'm unable to cry and no matter how sad I feel I can't cry

Our brains and bodies are strange, and adaptable. It's like a disease adjusting to overcome immunity and then an immune system shifting to then protect itself again - we're always shifting.

So if your body and mind have slipped into a depressed sad state, and your usual go to is music, it's possible that in order to avoid release, it's adapted to numb that out too. This doesn't mean it's forever, but for now it may be time to seek out other outlets.

Here's a few ideas, but I'd encourage you to seek out what may be good for you.

-books

-journaling

-walks

-movies

-different genres or artists of music than you usually go to

-painting

-brekaing things (buy a bunch of stuff with the intent of just going to town on it)

-get clay and try to create what your world feels like right now and then shift it to what you want your world to be - it doesn't have to be amazing art, just something to give visual to what's inside.

-Remember to give yourself permission - crying and expression are good and healthy and sometimes we get in the habit of dismissing what's within for so long, that we have trained ourselves it's not allowed or beneficial to release.

-It's better to focus on the source of pain and frustration than on the desire to release or cry. thinking 'I need to cry' won't release emotion. But thinking deeply on all that's caused sadness and hurt may pave way to a release and that's a good thing. We spend so much time trying to cover symptoms of sad by thinking positive and putting on a brave front, but often what our body needs is for us to acknowledge that sometimes life sucks really badly and we need to release those chemicals that crying allows us to release.

@neverfLynch thanks for the tips. I haven't been talking to anyone it and I have been automatically isolating myself as well so as soon as I can release and show it instead of bottling it up.
