How do you guys deal with Mental Lethargy ?
Since the last 3 months I have had problems to stay active and busy in life. Even getting up from the bed in the morning is taking a lot out of me. Every day I just go through the motions. I try and set smaller goals but still I am not making any progress. I am taking meds prescribed by doc, but still I havent made any progress. I seem to have lost interest with everything in life and nothing excites me anymore.
What did the doctor say regarding your symptoms of mental lethargy? It is a difficult one because whilst you do not want to get up and do things... by doing things it makes you feel energised. I like running and doing yoga when I'm tired as I feel the endorphins really energise me :)
@Mrcheeku
Hey there, first of all I'd like to say how sorry i am to hear your having such a difficult time right now, I understand it's not easy, but believe me, your much stronger than your giving yourself credit for, because you are dealing with the issue and seeking help, that in itself is a very brave move. Secondly, I'd have to agree with @OceanCounselling, you know, sometimes the smallest of all steps make the biggest of challenges, and some days, if all you can do is get up and dressed and breath, then give yourself a pat on the back for doing that, be proud that you have achieved something that day. By setting small goals as you are doing, and trying your hardest to stick by them, maybe a walk to the shop, any kind of slight exercise to begin with, will release endorphins which will instantly make you feel more energised. Furthermore, positive encouragement from someone close who is providing some much deserved support is always a step in the right direction, I do hope you are receiving some support on line or in real life. But please remember lovely, if some days you do nothing at all, this is okay too, don't be to hard on yourself, you have to listen to what you body needs, if it needs rest, then rest you should give it without feeling guilty, steady progress takes time and patience. If your not happy with the medication you have been prescribed, then I'd perhaps suggest speaking with your doctor again, raising your concerns.
Take care sweetheart.
