How do you know if you have depression?

I sometimes wonder if I have depression, but since I can't seek professional help at the moment I can't really find out. Do you have an answer for the question?

You could take the Beck Depression Inventory. It's available online and you can self-score. It's not very long. This looks like a decent version:

It's not an official diagnosis if you take it without a licensed professional but it might help you evaluate what you're feeling.
