How to understand my depression
I honestly don't know how to understand what im going through and when I try to tell my parents they think im being silly. Its getting worse and recently I've just lost attraction to everyone and I have no sex drive at all so idk if thats linked to my depression. I feel like I'm getting worse and I just want to stop feeling this way bc I can barely get out of bed.
Hi @calmGrapefruit2581! I am sorry that you are currently struggling with depression, but you are certainly not alone in this. You certainly found the right community!
I am not a specialist (only a fellow depression warrior), but a loss of libido is a common symptom of depression, as well as a loss of appetite, lack of motivation to get out of bed or feeling pleasure from doing activities.
People who do not have depression are often baffled when one's describe the experience of it. They are unable to imagine what it feels when one's brain is working in this sluggish, painful way because their own brains are feeling fine. It is like trying to comprehend how a shortsighted person sees the world without glasses when you have 20/20 vision. You cannot imagine the heartache of loss when all you know is abundance.
Even though you do not receive support from your family, please know that you are not silly. Your feelings are valid. What you are experiencing is valid. If you haven't done it already, I strongly encourage you to reach out to a specialist. You do not have to justify your situation or wait to feel worse or "just get over it". What you are experiencing right now is already enough to reach out for help. Your problems are not imaginary. They can be treated and you can feel better. And there are a lot of options for you.
You deserve so much better, lovely. Please give yourself a chance and do not give in to the helplessness.
Sending to you all of my strength!
