I don't know any different
Hello, I'm new to this cite and struggling with mild depression. I'm reading all these posts and people ask me about what I'm doing to help with my depression. But honestly I don't know if my coping skills are working or if I feel differently. I have felt this way and worse for so long that I don't know any different. I don't know if I'm making progress or what I'm suppose to feel like. All I know is that I struggle with motivation to do things but I can function as an adult with work or such. I work a lot, pay my bills, and sleep whenever I can. It takes me a lot to clean places and to get up early even if I have slept enough. I'm not lazy but I'm also not doing daily routines. Any tips or help?

Sometimes SSRIs or other types of meds may help with "high functioning" depression. Making sure you're getting enough vitamin D is especially important weather or not you choose to seek medication. Serotonin can't be produced by the body without enough vitamin D. Sunlight at around 45 degree angle to the ground has enough in it if the UVB rays aren't blocked by shade, clouds or window panes, at least 15 min a day if you can in addition to 3 servings of dairy. I go no/low lactose cause I'm sensitive to it.
If there's other issues listening to mindfulness tracks on the path menu here can help somewhat resolve and let go of feelings sometimes even feelings you aren't aware you had. It'll require frequent practice but it doesn't need to take hours with guided audio. I used to think I'd need to spend hours sitting on my own in full blown meditation to find calm but even short abdominal breathing exercise can help.
There's also cognative behavioral therapy where you do things like talking through it or making a thought record on paper. There's example of how to do that in self-help guides (also in path menu). I think it's in the 7cups guide as well as the depression and anxiety guides.

Thanks! I tried a few tracks and I think I will use them on my breaks at work. I liked a couple of them already and I hope to continue to use them. I enjoyed the sun today while taking a walk around a park. Will continue to use your tips.
