If you didn't have depression, what would you do?!
I would do more things with friends and family, making wonderful memories!
What about you? Let me know!
Wishing you a happy weekend! *huggles*
If I didn't have depression, I'd talk to strangers more. I'd make friends. I'd have people over my house. I'd let people like me if they seemed to want to. I'd let people take pictures of me.
I'd start a blog. Shoot, I'd write a book. I'd learn to sing. I'd dig for dinosaur bones. I'd get into great physical shape. I'd wake up early. "Attack the day like birds of prey". I'd take classes. I'd invest more in my career. I'd be a better parent.
I'd quaff down that frothy brew of life and embrace its intoxication.
If I didn't have depression, I might believe I was as good as anyone else.
@BurkeDevlin
Wow! I'm sure you'll be able to achive all the things you listed in the future. Talking to strangers and making friends would be amazing. Aha digging for dinosaur bones, eh? Awesome ideas there Devlin! Wishing you the best.

@blossombreathe Thank you, that's so nice and encouraging of you. For some reason, I've had this ambition to dig up dinosaur bones since I was a little kid. There are places that do 'scientific vacations' where you can volunteer to do things like that, and I kick myself for never joining something like that before I had kids and a mortgage. Maybe one day I'll work up to it.
Have a great day.
If i dint have depression den i wud hv been d happiest person alive ... der is.nthng more for any1 dan being happy
I would spend more time with friends, and it would be easier to make new friends because I wouldn't have as big of a fear of rejection... I wouldn't think I'm a horribly flawed person if I was rejected, at least. I also think I'd be healthier physically, because it would be easier to motivate myself to cook more often and work out more often.
@quietDime4559
Yus! Fear of rejection is a very hard thing to deal with, I'm proud of you that you've stayed strong through tough times! Making friends is a lovely thing to wart to do, along with cooking too! Thank you for sharing, I hope that you achieve what you'd love to happen no matter what. *huggles*

I think I would have friends, go back to school and be able to concentrate better, but I have anxiety for a reason, so I am going to use it to my advantage and be kind to others and show compassion, I don't want to waste my life away.

I don't know what I would be doing,I don't think my life would be interesting if I didn't have it,being depressed has taught me many things.
@blossombreathe This is a really lovely thread :) it's nice to see people writing out what they would like to do!
I guess I'd just spend more of my life focusing on the important things rather than trying to overcome depression. That being said, I'm making the most of it and I'm grateful simply because I wouldn't be as strong without all of my experiences.
Well worded. Thanks.@canadagranger6
Hmmm... To be honest, I have no idea.
I want to say that I wouldn't experienced self-harm urges and suicidal ideation and absolute hopelessness since the teenage years, but I have no clear answer what would I actually accomplish without it. The life would be so much different... and at the same time not different at all. I would be absolutely a different person.
Right now I'm recovered and hold my disorder at bay and I'm proud of everything I did up to this point. I'm proud of my education, of taking opportunities I've taken, memories I've shared with wonderful people, regardless of the depressive episodes I've struggled. I did my best to follow my plans and to take care of myself along the way. I think the biggest difference would be in my energy levels - I would fully experience my youth and engage in my experience instead of shy from them in the darkest hours. I would maybe travel more and meet with more people, I guess? Have a healthier relationships with my family, without angry, born from desperation, arguments? Would read more, walk more, have less guilt of not being productive like others?
But again, depression made me more vulnerable, but also more open and honest and I gain strength from within those lessons. It let me find this community and friends who struggle with similar issues.
@Celaeno
I agree with you! Life certainly would be very different without depression; it is really weird to think about life without it. We've gotten so used to it! It's good to hear that you're recovered and have learnt to manage your disorder well; I'm proud of you! Travelling more and meeting people would be really fun!
I like to think about the places I'd go with my friends when I'm older, it's fun to dream like that. ^-^ Also having a better relationships around us would be amazing too!
I love what you said about gaining strength within the lessons you've learnt. We are given hard times during life but it only makes us stronger! Thank you so much for sharing, I hope you're having a lovely day!
