Insomnia & Depression. How do you help yourself get to sleep?
Would love to hear what some of the things you do to help go to sleep at night
@anonyLion7753, keep any electronic gadget away from your bed especially handphoes, tablets, handheld electronic games. You are bound to use them because you cannot sleep. This gadgets engages your senses and make your brain too active to unwind. Well, this in my humble insight to unsolved prolong insomia.
I chat until my eyes close, because Im not going back on sleeping tablets, no way.

Well I struggle with not being able to fall asleep, and what I do if I'm still awake after about half an hour in bed is I get up and do something else for a bit and try again later. I find it helps this way because its much better than lying in bed for hours and getting upset over not falling asleep. And you might actually be more tired on the second try.
I have sleep disorders and in fact, no therapies have helped me cope with this.
When I tried to fight insomnia, I tried just everything. I took a hot shower before going to bed, aired the room, turned off all the devices next to the bed, and made the room completely dark, I even bought some herbal tea that didn't help me sleep at all. I read before going to bed and it's still pointless. Until I found Hometown Hero, I didn't overcome insomnia like that. This is what helped me and I started falling asleep much faster, so I think you really should pay attention to it, maybe it will help you.
Because of anxiety I'm sleeping very poorly right now.
What I have to do to get three or four hours sleep: I sleep on a couch because I like having something to my back. I put my Computer Screen on a YouTube video of an old black and white movie or a video of point of view of a long train ride. I mute the sound and put on slow guitar or piano music, no sax. I put two fans on my face and stare at the video while chanting the Lord's prayer in my head. It doesn't always work. Last night I woke at 3 am and stared at the screen repeating the prayer until 5am and didn't get back to sleep.
Drinking warm tea such as Lavender Honey Tea or soak in a nice Epson salt bath before bed β€π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄β€π΄β€
I listen to music in my bed for like an hour than put on green noise

Oh boy do I know what its like to struggle with insomnia! I tried all the things they say to establish a bedtime routine and all. My problem wasn't that I couldn't stop thinking, it was that I just never felt sleepy. They told me to exercise and that would tire me out. That didn't work either. The only thing I found that worked was journaling before bed, which I guess is a big help if you struggle with constant thoughts while you're trying to sleep. I usually just write like a stream of consciousness thing which would seem silly to anyone reason it. "I wonder if it'll rain tomorrow. Aww my cat is so cute. I want waffles for breakfast." And somehow that (usually) does the trick.
