Is anything better than sleeping?

I am going through a really hard time in my life where there's alot of health problems in my family. I've never lost anyone before but I may lose my dad, niece, and grandma soon. I only have one friend and I'm not emotionally close with anyone. My days are filled with anxiety and lonliness and I just want it to end. Sleeping, when not mixed in with nightmares and anxiety attacks, feels great. As if I have just escaped this reality for a bit. Problem us, im a major insomniac. I get 5-6 hrs of broken sleep a night. Is there anything like sleep that can shut off reality and let me rest?

@JessieKat

well if you like reading it works very well.

you could try yoga or going on walks.

or just watching something on youtube

i dont know if any of these will help but best of luck to you.

Yes, but my mind is still very active when I do those things, so I wasn't sure if there was an alternative

If you like being outdoors, my favorite way to find some peace is going somewhere beautiful and taking a nice long hike. Usually by myself since I don’t have friends, which is honestly perfect for trying to escape reality for a bit. Turn your favorite music on some headphones, take in everything you see and smell, stop every so often and try to be in the moment and soak it in.

Audio books really helped me to sleep and get rid of vortex of thoughts. It's impossible to think anything else when listening to an audio book, so they really help to calm down. Plus they're a great way to catch up the "books I should read" pile 😄

There was a time in my life when I couldn't sleep, I was depressed and had too many bad thoughts that's been keeping me awake. I downloaded duolingo and started playing/practising languages. I have problems with my concentration, I get distracted very fast. But with this, I only focused on the app. And I fell asleep while doing the app. Perks on that I'm now very good in french.
