I have depression and I want to know if the medication won't make me kill my self. I tried using St. John's Wart and it only made me feel worse. Do you think something stronger will be the end of me?

Hello @John04 .

You should talk to your doctor about this if you have one, if you don't, then please get help. Doctor will be there to monitor you and see what's happening. It can get worse, but that only means that the medication started working and that you need to get through that and wait, because after that bad episode will always come the better one. Also, don't expect for the first medication to work, usually the first one doesn't work, my 4th antidepressant worked actually.

But with the support of your therapist, you can manage to stay alive until you get the right med, I'm sure that you can. Hope I helped, hugs :)

@John04 Like @alexlove said, you should seek the advice on this from a trained psychiatrist who is familiar with the symptoms you are experiencing. St. John's Wort has its caveats, and is not as directed a SSRI as, say, a Zoloft.

In short, seek a psychiatrist, and try and trust in the process. It took me about three years to find an appropriate medication and dosage, but it often takes a much shorter amount of time. The 7Cups community is here for you along the entire path!
