Slipping

I've been feeling better lately because my medication has been working. But being back home from school has been testing my mood. I feel myself slipping backwards into old anxieties and depressive thoughts and don't know what to do. I feel like I'm clinging on to the feeling of being okay and that's just fueling my anxiety. I have two more months until I can go back to school and I'm scared of losing all the progress I've made so far. What can you do when you feel like you're slipping?

@affectionateWillow1084 as one of the therapists here I just wanted to commend you for talking about this because I'm sure its scary. I often see that when people get out of their routine things seem to get more challenging. You went from school to being back home which might have hard memories of when the depression was worse (???) When I have clients that are slipping (or when I'm slipping myself bc I too have depression) I try to recognize what IS going right. And I find it helpful to keep a consistent schedule so I"m not too much in my head. Keep reching out here!

@affectionateWillow1084 Yes, I agree with the other post by Anna. Being used a a certain routine, which I am certain was vey busy and kept your mind off of things, and returning home where things tend to slow down in the summer gives your mind ample time to think and rethink everything. I have found that simple walks, going window shopping, basically anything that gets me out of the house helps me from slipping. If you ever want to chat, just PM me and I will be happy to listen.
