Staying motivated
After a few weeks of persistently down moods, I was able, through taking healthy steps, to get some improvement in mood. Like not totally better, but I'm able to get some good and neutral moods in there.
The thing is, there's this inertia that hits, where doing sensible things becomes really tiring and while I've kept up consistently with some of what's good for me, other things have a tendency to fall by the wayside. I know that it's good for me to work short walks into my daily routine, to go out and be social, or at least in public and among other people whenever possible, and to eat regular meals that are at least reasonably balanced. But on rough days it feels like there are so many things, and I have to keep pushing myself, and things slip. (I'm more consistent with things essential to getting myself to work, or taking certain doctor-recommended vitamin suppliments. The vitamins are relatively low-effort, and I fear the consequences of not showing up to work, but even then, both those things involve pushing myself.).
How do people make themselves do healthy steps consistently when everything is effort? (I've started therapy, but have done one session so far, and it's still mainly assessment. The helpful part is a few weeks down the road.)
