What to do?

I have a friend thats been strugglng with depression and suicidal thoughts for a while and I want to ask some people that have more experience with this than me. Would you rather someone go and tell your school counselor or whatever it may be about it or to just let you go on without professional help? Sorry if this isnt the right place to put this, but i dont know where else to come

@Vertetbleu I volunteer with the National Alliance for Mental Illness and this is one of the topics that our Ending the Silence Presention covers. It is much better to tell someone about your friend (and risk her being upset at you) than to have her continue to struggle (and risk her getting worse or possibly hurting herself as you said she has suicidal thoughts.) I know people who have gotten help for their friends when they were told not to. That action saved their friend's life. It will be worth it.

You are a great friend for reaching out and asking the question. I can tell that you care about her and want to support her. She's lucky to have you in her life. :-)

Thanks mate, ill make sure i do that as soon as i can. Ive asked a few other people this question and they gave me the same answer, but it helps to hear from someone who has more professional knowledge i guess.
