Is one life even worth when there are 7 billion other humans on this planet, and all you do is repeat the life from others in a differente order? Actually it doesnt matter, in 100years everybody forgot you anyway. So it doesnt matter if you die now or 50 years later.

@turquoiseTriangle7840 of course it matters turquoise. if we are talking about you, or anyone ... no one person is the same as any other person. You make a unique contribution to the planet and to life, and this appllies to the present and past, and hopefully gosh darn it, the future! in fact, James Baldwin said that as an artist, we are obligated and called upon to create in order to share our work with the world, and to quite probably influence others in taking action, thinking differently, becoming more tolerant / open-minded, exposing them to new ideas, or simply appreciating works of art for their beauty, among many other things. regardless of whether one is an artist who creates works for others or not, you are the artist of your life. you make your own life and that in and of itself is beautiful and singular--YOU are beautiful and original. there is no one in the world just like you. every person or being you come into contact with is affected by you. you may not ever know all the wonderful ways you impact the people in your life. do not deprive the planet and all of us who inhabit it the presence of the unique gift of turquoiee triangle 7840. i, for one, would miss you, though I don't even know you, simply judging from the asethetic and creative nature of your screen name.

@chaz11

Nvm chaz11, its all a matter of opinion and thats my opinion. Its just a truth that your life doesnt matter when you look at the past and future 1000 years. And you cant tell me that 0.000000014% is a number that has a big influence. I just dont see whats so special about life. No i didnt meant that my life is a copy of a other life. Its like a lego tower where you take the blocks out of other towers to build your own.

@turquoiseTriangle7840 oh, i'm sorry. i didn't mean to negate or downplay your feelings at all, or to make you feel misunderstood. I was just trying to be supportive. i understand what you're saying, and i also think about that, not infrequently. But I still think (on my good days) that it is superfluous to our perspective of leading a meaningful life. just my .02 ....

because we worth it! life will worth it for real when we take it one day at a time, honestly.

I often wonder why I am alive to experience all of this. Why did I have to be? Why. Always asking why. It's like I need a purpose. What is the purpose of that logic. It's pointless that i am here, and yet I am here.

@turquoiseTriangle7840

I understand how this all feels. I question my own existence from time to time. I wish I could give you some encouraging words or help to lift your spirits a little. Right now I'm in a ditch that keeps getting deeper. I've mentioned on a separate forum about how I keep dreaming of the time where I never ceased to exist. How I spent so long unaware of life itself, before even being born. Just the darkness. The unknowingness. I wish I could return to this. I know it isn't possible.

Call me bizarre, but the idea that if I was never born none of this would ever of happened... somehow that thought alone gives me a little comfort. Sorry this isn't helpful in the slightest, but I suppose what it does show is that you aren't alone in thinking this way. Which can be a form of support in itself, the idea of not being alone, because what's worse than being depressed is being depressed AND alone.

@turquoiseTriangle7840 I am coping with similar thoughts. I know what you mean. With an infinite amount of time, our lives are a finite amount of time, making our time here on Earth infintessimally small. However, what I realized was that the impact I can make while I'm here can last any amount of time. People could build on my developments and support forever! Even this post and the ideas in it could influence people for the rest of time! It's unlikely... but very much possible.

What I'm trying to say is that finding a sense of purpose in life is important -- something bigger than ourselves. That is how we can feel, and be, significant in this enormous universe in the infinite dimension of time.

It's easier said than done. There's a reason why depression takes many every year.

@sparklyseaweed Absolutely. Finding one's niche can be very difficult. Unfortunately, many never do.

You are right in the sense that one person compared to 7 billion other human beings is a very insignificant number. And as for a hundred years or so, people will ever forget you exist.

I wonder the same way as well. However I still want to live and continue living as best as I can until the day I naturally die. So why should I try so hard to survive and live do only one day die? It's not like I'm going to be some sort of pioneer that would leave such a huge impact on society that my name will be remembered in the history books. I'm Just Your Average Joe with many more to take my place in the world. But I still want to live for myself and for my family. You could call it living to take care of my parents and the rest of my family like paying off a debt because they took care of me and now I have to live my life to take care of them.

But what will happen after they're gone and I'm free of my obligation? I still want to live for myself. I might be married or have children by then so that's another obligation tie me to life. But even if I remain single for the rest of my life, I want to spend it doing what I want. That gives me an exhilarating feeling of happiness of fulfillment. For ex traveling the world one lifetime is not enough to see everything there is in the world. or working in my job to help people everyday.

So in a way even if nobody knows I exist after a hundred years or if I am truly a replaceable Average Joe, the only person I need to know that Ive existed is me.
