Drugs, alcohol, caffeine- Oh my!
Are you ready for this weeks challenge? I, Anna-Kate Miller must make a confession- Im being a hypocrite writing this challenge. This weeks challenge is all about refraining from drugs and drinking and Im sitting at a Starbucks consuming a Grande Chia Tea. (Mmmmmm) But I will officially start the challenge after I finish this and make this challenge post😊 I do want to challenge us this week to avoid or decrease any kind of drug or drink that we dont feel is healthy for us. That could be recreational drugs, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, sugar- whatever is not good for us. Mine is usually a glass of wine and my daily coffee, tea and cokes. Im going to work hard on decreasing it this week! (Caution here- Im not a doctor so dont stop anything without consulting a doctor if you think youll have side effects. And dont stop prescribed drugs!) How is this good self care?- well some of these drugs can impact our mood and our over all health. Can you stop or decrease this week and see if you feel any better? Share with the group how you do!
So the challenge this week: Stop of decrease any substance that is unhealthy for you. Are you up for the challenge?
@AnnaKateMillerLCSW
Well, as a person who have many addecition on many substance, I tried to quit them before, but it never worked well for me, the thing is, to quit any habbit, we eiher need a great determindation which is really hard for most people, or the addiction or habit did hurt us enough to quit it, its goes like this at least in my mind, but if I did quit what should I do instead or I do need this substance for this reason or another
Not sure if I did make any sense though ^^
In march i was due for exam that is ranked among the toughest in my country, i although had a strong motivation to work hard, my body could not handle the amount of stress.
60days prior to exam i resorted to micro sleeps
I had 8 hour lectures and 8 hour self study amounting to atleast 16 hours of studies daily, but i wanted to push further.
I started taking in copious amounts of Caffeine and Nicotine to keep myslef awake. I was able to pust my total study time to over 19 hours and sleeping just as little as 3 hours
By the time my exam was a week away i was not sleeping for days on ends. I drank more coffee and tea than i drank water. If that was not enough, i would take a cold bath and eat coffee directly out of packets to keep myself up and functional. In that last week i slept less than 9 hours total
I didnt crack the exam, but that short burst of stress busted my health in ways i cant even count :(
All i can say, is addiction no matter what the driving agent is, will always harm :(
Hello,
I am a fitness trainer now and an ex addict. I can tell you that exercising is one of the best way to focus your mind. Also, once you start exercising, you want to stay more healthy. Join an addiction recovery program as it really helps. I have started my fitness blog. You can read my lastest article here: https://healthoclock.net/best-recumbent-bike-reviews/ and https://healthoclock.net/best-rowing-machine-reviews/.
I am also thinking to map down my addiction recovery and help people through this forum and my blog to get rid of addiction.
