S.A.D for Years
Interesting to come across this community of S.A.D people. I was diagnosed by my Primary doctor last year but I've always known I had it. I'm 28 so I may have noticed at the age of early 20s. I am the happiest in the Spring and Summer but when cold weather arrives, the struggle gets very real. Dark clouds, rainy day's also change my moods. It's like I'll think I can handle it. I'll say to myself " Oh it's a dark day today? I will be fine. No problem😅" and then later on I crash into tears. Cold weather makes me feel uncomfortable, alone, sad, and often brings about memories of trauma. When I see darkness outside, it seems to reflect on something I have witnessed or felt. I have since been on antidepressants and have talked to therapists/counselors. I've also noticed that I have to be around people or anyone I can talk to to lessen how I'm feeling. If you're one of those people who thinks you can handle it but your really struggling, please seek help. I went 1 year thinking I could handle my emotions without meds and that I can be normal. I was very much wrong. I had many crying spells, angry outbursts, triggers, everything. It is not fun. I'm glad to read that I am not the only one. I also hate when doctor's say " Yes but everyone has S.A.D"... OKAY but HOW are they DEALING with it is what I'd like to know🤔 Thank you for reading❤
Hi @DaisyBeeBlooming, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with SAD, but I’m happy to hear you’ve noticed that reaching out helps you! I appreciate this suggestion, as I also used to think I could keep things inside and fight it alone. I have to remind myself of this regularly and it always helps. Wishing you the best 💙
