Am I depressed?

In late March last year, I felt very guilty and sad all the time. I had most of the symptoms of depression, for example, being suicidal and wanting to cry at every moment. This lasted for around a month, and I began self-harming during that time. Cutting myself would relieve me of the bad feelings and help me get through a long day. This period ended after a month, but those feelings came crashing back after a few weeks. Up till now, I would have weeks where I'd feel absolutely fine, and weeks where I felt depressed. They usually alternate, two weeks after another, though I've experienced months without depressive symptoms. I always question the validity of my feelings as I'm not sad all the time; should I see a doctor about this?

@h2so4

Sorry that you have been feeling this way. You might want to check out the self help guides on 7cups wiki. Here are some ways to cope with depression.You can always reach out and talk to your primary care provider about it and ask them if a therapist would help or you could look for a therapist that is covered by your insurance company which they could provide you a list.

@h2so4 Depression symptoms can come and go. It sounds like when they are here, you are really really struggling. I would definitely see a doctor, they can recommend different things like therapy or medication, but they can also test for abnormalities. I guess things like your thyriod can can cause these symptoms as well.

Please reach out so you can get some relief. heart
