Purpose
I spend a more than unhealthy time on my own, and have been pondering a single question for a few months: What purpose is there to life? Millions of people live and die without accomplishing anything meaningful, and as I lovl through each day, I know I will be just the same. I will die at some point and it will be over. With no real purpose to life, I feel dead inside, as there is no point to living, but being dead isn't much better. I am afraid that one day being dead will be a better option, and I will follow through. Every waking moment I try to think of purpose to no avail. Somebody help me because I'm clear out of answers and I'm afraid I won't be on this Earth much longer.
@SliceyAndDicey This question has been wrestled with by nearly every person at some point in their life. This question goes back to the very beginning of humankind and existence. This response may seem biased and religious but I truly believe that God gives us purpose in our lives. When you die, it will not be over. This life is the time in which we make the choices that will determine everything, and if you follow the light of God, death will merely be the pathway to heaven. This question is a heavy one and it weighs on people whether or not they believe in God. But I truly believe that in order to make peace with this question we must ask God to show us the answer. I hope this may be helpful to you. Do not worry. You can get through this
@SmolPillow I am not trying to attack your beliefs, but I firmly don't believe in God. I haven't seen evidence to prove otherwise, and In personally view most theologies more as a way of setting moral standards. Christianity is popular because it's moral standards are sensible and good. Satanism is not popular because there are very little moral standards and it is violent. I believe that when one dies it is over. I am more at peace with an abrupt ending than an inexplicable continuation.
@SliceyAndDicey I understand your point of view and I am very grateful for your peaceable and sensible answer :). I cannot give you proof for God, I can only hope that you come to know and love Him. Keep hope alive. There is a purpose to your life.
So many things I could say, but to be honest I have no proof or answer to your dilemma. I have been struggling with the same questions as you. Why am I here? What do I add to the world? Will anyone miss or think of me when I am gone? Sadly, I am still searching for any positive answers to those questions. I don't know if this will help or make things better for you, but I still believe in myself. I still believe that what I do for others, being a dispatcher/firefighter/paramedic has helped someone and made their life better. If not at least I know I never gave up on my beliefs, morals, and values that I held true all me life.
