Depression due to non forgiving

So due to my depression is down to my past, a very dark and cold past.... willing to give details when im comfortable.... but if i forgave a person who is not here anymore will i feel less depressed...?

Hi, sorry to hear your having a rough time, I hope things settle down for you soon. Forgiveness, that's a tricky one, everyone has there own take on forgiveness, mine is quite simple, I forgive for myself do I can move forward, not the person or the action but for myself so I can learn from the wrong doing, the feelings and complications as a result of the action and thank them for making me stronger. So forgiveness for myself, and thanks to the action, does that make sense? Do you understand what i mean?
