Do you ever doubt your depression?

I have been previously diagnosed with anxiety and I have been experiencing depression symptoms for the last few months. I can't tell if it's really depression or if I'm just lazy.

@Kate576

I've doubted my own depression as well, but the fact stands that I have a paper officially stating my diagnosis of it and anxiety. No matter how much the stigma may exist, no matter how many people may insist "You're just lazy", no matter how guilty and awful you feel simply for feeling guilty and awful, the fact stands that you have a mental illness that you did not ask for, and you are not to blame for it.

In our own ways, we're in this together. heart

@Kate576 I have trouble figuring that out too. I haven't been diagnosed with anything, but the symptoms I'm having make me think I have depression. But I also sometimes think I'm just being lazy. I get what you mean...

Yes, I get easily overwhelmed, I feel the demands of society weighing on me, dictating what the image of a 'productive' or 'successful' person looks like. It makes me sad in those moments where i buy into it and believe that I dont fit in with those ideals. I have times where I give in to laziness and complacency. It can usually feel like an accident. People have asked me why I'm not moving forward yet, why I still live at my parents' place at 25. Taking these non-matriculated classes have helped me grow in a way I coudln't in college. I haven't lost sight of my goals, but I still feel nervous if I'm 'going to be ok'.
