Hello I exist
Hi, I'm new here. I was diagnosed with depression like two months ago, and it's been getting worse...
I also noticed that most people here are a little older than me (I'm 14) so it'd help if I had someone to talk to who'd give me some advice from experience and all that. I'm also lonely as heck and it doesn't help that I'm shy, so I also wanna learn to not freak out when I'm in social situations.
And I'm also pretty chill with making some new friends, because like I said earlier, I'm lonely as heck. Also, talking to people online is way easier than talking to people in real life. I have a hard time talking about my feelings and problems because I don't want to seem like a whiner, but I think being able to talk about stuff will take a lot off my chest
Hello @gallasxtwo
Welcome to the subcommunity, we are so glad to have you here <3, I am sorry to hear that your depression is getting worse. Have you figured out some ways to cope with how you are feeling? This is a safe place for you to share how you are feeling and meet others who may be having the same struggles as you.
Hi @KarrotCake
At the moment, I haven't really found ways to cope with it. I guess I tend to play a ton of games for many hours to distract myself, which I don't think is the best coping mechanism. I'm open to trying new things, though
@gallasxtwo here is a few photos of ideas that could help, one does say for kids but can be helpful to everyone <3

At this age, your brain's still wiring itself to adapt to the world.. If you spend too much time in another world (online) you will soon realize that the real world is too alien to exist in.
Things in life are a trade off.. When you get good at something you inevitably get worse at another thing.. If you're amazingly good at communicating online your offline communication suffers. The human animal isnt built to speak through machines unfortunately. Our technology is leagues ahead of what our body needs and our body is still primitive.
Better start now.. while your brain is still wiring itself.. IF you push yourself now in uncomfortable situations, you will thank yourself later and who knows, maybe you will even find respite from your depression through the reward of hard effort.. Its not gonna be painless but the alternative is worse
@ArachnoChronos I'm talking to you as an adult, because the decisions now will dictate your whole life and often they are hard to fix if not impossible to fully fix.. ITs your choice in the end, which direction you want to take.
@ArachnoChronos Thanks a lot for the advice! I'm being homeschooled right now, so I don't usually talk to people outside of my family. But I do have contact with some former classmates, and I want to try to meet up with them mostly so that I can get over my shyness. And again, thanks so much for the advice
