I’m not sure what to do anymore.
I’ve been living with depressions for about 5 years now and in the beginning I could manage it while I was in the military but as of recently it just seems to be taking over. I have no desire to do anything I used to enjoy, all I want to do is come home from work and just go sit in my room and play video games. It’s causing a strain on my marriage as I just don’t have it in me to spend time with my wife anymore, I see her maybe for dinner and then when we go to bed that’s about it. I don’t know what to do anymore and I hate feeling this way.
Idk about you, but finding time to be in each other's presence for a few minutes can be a lot. Like maintain eye contact with your wife and just enjoy what feelings you have. Whatever emotions/feelings you experience in this exercise allow it to happen. If you want to cry, cry. No judgements, just basic human connection.
@Greenpine98. Hi Greenpine. I totally get it. First let me ask if you have talked to a psychologist/therapist/counselor? What about medication like antidepressants? Exercise is huge for me. Believe me you don’t feel like doing crap I get it but walking has really made a huge difference for me. What about you and the wife go for a walk together? I’m also reading the book Feeling Good and the 10 best-ever anxiety management techniques. Have you talked to her about your depression? Friends? Etc.? I’m here if you want to chat
How are things now? Depression definitely comes in waves and it sounds like yours is rougher at the moment.
Maybe you could do something simple like going on a short walk with your wife each evening after dinner. Being outside can really reset things and you can talk for a few minutes.
You don't need to think drastic. Try a simple change first. @Greenpine98
