LDR Partner has Major Depressive Disorder - Seeking Support for Myself

Me (42 F) / Partner (34 M)

My LDR partner of nearly 2.5 years has major treatment resistent depression. I do my best to be an excellent support system for him. I've done a lot of research and he says I'm very helpful and supportive. I'm not so much seeking new ways to better support him (but they're always welcome!) as a place to vent my own sadness and occasional burnout of being the caregiver.

If I acknowledge that I feel sad because of his ongoing, unimproving depression and how its manifestations hurt me, it would validate his incorrect brain telling him he is a burden to me. He absolutely is not. If I'm hurting, he always puts his own pain aside to support me. I just don't want to add to his stress with my pain and anxiety, so I'm here looking for a place to vent and get support.

Thank you for reading

Hi keeper,

It can be so tough to feel that you a burden on them when their depression tells them they are a burden to others. What have been some ways you have been coping with all of this going on?
